Tribute to Mike Bakker

Allendale Electrical takes its name from Allendale Road in Mt Albert where founder Mike Bakker and his wife Tracey started the company in 1990 operating from the basement of their home.  From these humble beginnings Mike worked hard to develop Allendale's culture and reputation, and over a 20 year period built  Allendale into Auckland's premier electrical contracting company, forging many enduring relationships and proudly delivering on his promise of trust, quality and good service.  Over the years Mike also took a broad interest in the electrical contracting  and construction community being a past president of the Auckland branch of ECANZ (Electrical Contractors Association of NZ) and a board member of Site Safe NZ.  Early in 2010 Mike was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and passed away a short time later.  Mike's spirit lives on at Allendale.

Max Bakker

Max oversees the day to day operations of the various departments that make up Allendale Electrical and Communications. With over 30 years in the NZ electrical industry working on some major projects, Max brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.

Paul Martin

Paul overseas the Estimation and Design department and is responsible for all tenders, budgets, consultant peer reviews and electrical design.  With over 30 years experience both in NZ and Britain his electrical estimating skills are not matched in Auckland.

Steve Williams

A NZ Registered Electrician with over 17 years experience, Steve has a strong management background in design and build projects including generator and UPS emergency standby systems. Recently completed projects include large scale appartment projects and commercial hospitality fitouts

Bob Lawton

Bob manages large and medium scale projects, City and Guilds qualified (NZCE equivalent) with heavy industrial experience gained in the dockyards of Northern England and Auckland, his unsurpassed technical knowledge of wiring controls and systems means he can tackle the most challanging and complicated of contracts with ease.

Paul Hodgson

A NZ registered electrician, Paul has been with the companyfor more than 20 years and has extensive experience managing large electrical projects. His knowledge of earthing and lightning protection gained through helping to set up the Vodafone cell site network is extensive.

Craig Black

A NZ registered Electrician with qualifications in Illumination Engineering and Construction Management, Craig has major project management experience gained both in NZ and Australia working on some iconic projects.

Paul Shea

Paul has over 25 years experience in the data and communications industry and oversees all the data installations that Allendale are involved with.  He is a certified designer for all the major Structured Cabling Solutions companies, with specialist experience in the installation of copper and fibre networks.

Andy Leonard

Andy is a  registered electrician with extensive industry experience covering industrial, process control and commercial installations he runs our busy service department with a focus on customer service.

Dave Smith

A qualified draftsman, Dave is very experienced and up to date with all elements of Cad drafting.
He produces drawings for design and build projects and updates as-builts on completion. He also does an excellent job colating material for publishing in our operating and maintenance manuals.

Zane Smith

Zane started at Allendale as an apprentice and has worked his way through various positions of responsibility within the company. His broad commercial experience now enhances the Allendale estimating team.

Andy Tang

One of our most experienced large scale project site managers, recently completed projects include University Med School, Deloittes Centre at 80 Queen St, Sylvia Park Shopping complex, Waitakere Hospital expansion and The Quadrant Hotel.

Phil Kirk

Recently completed projects include major data centres for ANZ and IBM, power upgrades at Vodafone's 2 main Technical Centres, the North Shore Policing Centre and a large winery expansion for Villa Maria

Terry Lawler

Recently completed projects include major data centres for ANZ and IBM and various projects at The Auckland Museum. Terry is also involved heavily in the testing and commissioning of our critical projects.

Paul Van Rixel

Recently completed projects include APEX Mega Centre, Vodafone Head Office, Microsoft Head Office and HP Head Office.

Russ Kern

Russ has over 30 years experience as an Electrical Engineer and Lighting designer. He runs his own consultancy, Kern Consultants and works for Allendale on a contract basis. You can visit his website at kernconsultants.co.nz.
