Project Ra Ora - for IBM
2010 - Brookfield MultiplexIBM’s new data centre provides two levels of redundancy from mains power, two levels of redundancy from UPS power and multiple levels of redundancy from generator power while incorporating the latest in Global Green Data Centre design.
Allendale’s Data Centre Project Team installed 26km of mains cables to supply the electrical infrastructure for this energy-efficient facility. The project also included 54 tonnes of switchboards, four backup generators with twin fuel systems, and a holding capacity of 30,000 litres.
The installation required over 100,000 site man-hours.
The total facility comprises 5200m², including 1500m² of raised floor area, with the capacity to house approximately 720 racks. According to IBM's globally recognised data centre rating system, it has an IBM Reliability Level of 3+, boasting the highest levels of data centre reliability.
There was a very tight program to complete the works and have the site commissioned in time for data migration to the new facility. The site went from a bare shell to being fully commissioned within 6 months.
